Uniprot Description

TRIM72: Muscle-specific protein that plays a central role in cell membrane repair by nucleating the assembly of the repair machinery at injury sites. Specifically binds phosphatidylserine. Acts as a sensor of oxidation: upon membrane damage, entry of extracellular oxidative environment results in disulfide bond formation and homooligomerization at the injury site. This oligomerization acts as a nucleation site for recruitment of TRIM72-containing vesicles to the injury site, leading to membrane patch formation. Probably acts upstream of the Ca(2+)-dependent membrane resealing process. Required for transport of DYSF to sites of cell injury during repair patch formation. Regulates membrane budding and exocytosis. May be involved in the regulation of the mobility of KCNB1-containing endocytic vesicles. Belongs to the TRIM/RBCC family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Ubiquitin conjugating system; Ubiquitin ligase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p11.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasmic vesicle membrane; sarcolemma

Molecular Function: phosphatidylserine binding; protein binding; ubiquitin conjugating enzyme binding; zinc ion binding

Product Notes

The TRIM72 trim72 (Catalog #AAA427580) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TRIM72 Immunizing Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: C-RPQALSTN LQ. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TRIM72, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
