Related Product Information for anti-MMP13 antibody
MMP13 is a Metallopeptidase M10A type protease. Metalloproteinase 13/Collagenase 3 (MMP13) was originally identified in breast carcinoma and has since been documented in a variety of tumors including chondrosarcomas, basal cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. In addition it has been detected in inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis, in wound healing, and in destructive joint diseases such OA and RA.

NCBI Description

Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. The protein encoded by this gene cleaves type II collagen more efficiently than types I and III. It may be involved in articular cartilage turnover and cartilage pathophysiology associated with osteoarthritis. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3. Uniprot Description

MMP13: Degrades collagen type I. Does not act on gelatin or casein. Could have a role in tumoral process. Defects in MMP13 are the cause of spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia Missouri type (SEMD-MO). A bone disease characterized by moderate to severe metaphyseal changes, mild epiphyseal involvement, rhizomelic shortening of the lower limbs with bowing of the femora and/or tibiae, coxa vara, genu varum and pear-shaped vertebrae in childhood. Epimetaphyseal changes improve with age. Defects in MMP13 are the cause of metaphyseal anadysplasia type 1 (MANDP1). Metaphyseal anadysplasia consists of an abnormal bone development characterized by severe skeletal changes that, in contrast with the progressive course of most other skeletal dysplasias, resolve spontaneously with age. Clinical characteristics are evident from the first months of life and include slight shortness of stature and a mild varus deformity of the legs. Patients attain a normal stature in adolescence and show improvement or complete resolution of varus deformity of the legs and rhizomelic micromelia. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family.

Product Notes

The MMP13 mmp13 (Catalog #AAA242893) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit Polyclonal to Human MMP13 reacts with Gibbon, Gorilla, Horse, Human, Monkey, Pig, Rabbit Predicted Reactivity: Mouse, Rat, Dog, Hamster, Sheep (at least 90% immunogen sequence identity) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MMP13 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin). IHC-P (15 - 25 ug/ml). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MMP13 mmp13 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MMP13, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
