Related Product Information for anti-RAB8A antibody
Goat anti Human RAB8A antibody recognizes an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of the human RAS superfamily member Rab8a (Ras-related protein Rab-8A), otherwise known as oncogene c-mel, Rab8A is a small monomeric GTP/GDP-binding protein with a predicted molecular weight of ~24kDa which may play a role in vesicular trafficking and neurotransmitter release. The Rab family of proteins, originally described as Ras-like proteins in brain are the largest group of GTPases within the Ras superfamily with 61 protein members identified. Rab family members are involved in the regulation of intracellular vesicular transport and movement of proteins between endocytic and secretory organelles (Wennerberg et al. 2005). Rab8A is involved in vesicular traffic between the trans golgi network and the basoleteral aspect of the plasma membrane (Huber et al. 1993). Goat anti human Rab8a antibody has been successfully used for the detection of Rab8a in human intestinal epithelial cells using Western blotting (Vacca et al. 2014).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the RAS superfamily which are small GTP/GDP-binding proteins with an average size of 200 amino acids. The RAS-related proteins of the RAB/YPT family may play a role in the transport of proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi and the plasma membrane. This protein shares 97%, 96%, and 51% similarity with the dog RAB8, mouse MEL, and mouse YPT1 proteins, respectively and contains the 4 GTP/GDP-binding sites that are present in all the RAS proteins. The putative effector-binding site of this protein is similar to that of the RAB/YPT proteins. However, this protein contains a C-terminal CAAX motif that is characteristic of many RAS superfamily members but which is not found in YPT1 and the majority of RAB proteins. Although this gene was isolated as a transforming gene from a melanoma cell line, no linkage between MEL and malignant melanoma has been demonstrable. This oncogene is located 800 kb distal to MY09B on chromosome 19p13.1. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

RAB8A: May be involved in vesicular trafficking and neurotransmitter release. Together with RAB11A, RAB3IP, the exocyst complex, PARD3, PRKCI, ANXA2, CDC42 and DNMBP promotes transcytosis of PODXL to the apical membrane initiation sites (AMIS), apical surface formation and lumenogenesis. Together with MYO5B and RAB11A participates in epithelial cell polarization. Interacts with MAP4K2 and SYTL4. Interacts with SGSM1 and SGSM3. Interacts with OPTN. Interacts with RAB3IP. Interacts with MYO5B. Interacts with PIFO/C1orf88. Interacts with BIRC6/bruce. Interacts with OCRL. Belongs to the small GTPase superfamily. Rab family.

Product Notes

The RAB8A rab8a (Catalog #AAA224069) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GOAT ANTI HUMAN RAB8A (C-TERMINAL) reacts with Bovine (Expected from Sequence), Dog (Expected from Sequence) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RAB8A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 25kDa in human cerebellum and kidney cell lysates ELISA: Maximum Dilution: 1/32000 Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.1; Maximum Dilution: 0.3ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RAB8A rab8a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RAB8A, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
