Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Human Claudin 22 (also known as CLDN22) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human CLDN22 antibody. CLDN22 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human CLDN22 Antibody is added and binds to CLDN22 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CLDN22 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human CLDN22. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene encodes a member of the claudin family. Claudins are integral membrane proteins and components of tight junction strands. Tight junction strands serve as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, and also play critical roles in maintaining cell polarity and signal transductions. This gene is expressed in germinal center B-cells, placenta and stomach as well as in colon tumor. This gene is down-regulated in intestinal type gastric cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2010]
