Related Product Information for SEC24B recombinant protein
This protein is a member of the SEC24 subfamily of the SEC23
SEC24 family, which is involved in vesicle trafficking. The encoded protein has similarity to yeast Sec24p component of COPII. COPII is the coat protein complex responsible for vesicle budding from the ER. The role of this gene product is implicated in the shaping of the vesicle, and also in cargo selection and concentration. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the SEC24 subfamily of the SEC23/SEC24 family, which is involved in vesicle trafficking. The encoded protein is thought to be a cargo-binding component of the COPII vesicle, and is thought to be involved in the transport of secretory proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. Mutations in this gene have been associated with neural tube defects, and are thought to be a result of a disruption in interactions with the protein encoded by the VANGL planar cell polarity protein 2 (VANGL2) gene. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

Uniprot Description

Component of the coat protein complex II (COPII) which promotes the formation of transport vesicles from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). The coat has two main functions, the physical deformation of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane into vesicles and the selection of cargo molecules for their transport to the Golgi complex (PubMed:17499046, PubMed:20427317, PubMed:18843296). Plays a central role in cargo selection within the COPII complex and together with SEC24A may have a different specificity compared to SEC24C and SEC24D. May package preferentially cargos with cytoplasmic DxE or LxxLE motifs and may also recognize conformational epitopes (PubMed:17499046, PubMed:18843296).

Product Notes

The SEC24B sec24b (Catalog #AAA1155617) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli or Yeast or Baculovirus or Mammalian Cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Protein transport protein Sec24B (SEC24B), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
