Related Product Information for anti-SEC24B antibody
Component of the COPII coat, that covers ER-derived vesicles involved in transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. COPII acts in the cytoplasm to promote the transport of secretory, plasma membrane, and vacuolar proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi complex.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the SEC24 subfamily of the SEC23/SEC24 family, which is involved in vesicle trafficking. The encoded protein is thought to be a cargo-binding component of the COPII vesicle, and is thought to be involved in the transport of secretory proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. Mutations in this gene have been associated with neural tube defects, and are thought to be a result of a disruption in interactions with the protein encoded by the VANGL planar cell polarity protein 2 (VANGL2) gene. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

Uniprot Description

Component of the coat protein complex II (COPII) which promotes the formation of transport vesicles from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). The coat has two main functions, the physical deformation of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane into vesicles and the selection of cargo molecules for their transport to the Golgi complex (PubMed:17499046, PubMed:20427317, PubMed:18843296). Plays a central role in cargo selection within the COPII complex and together with SEC24A may have a different specificity compared to SEC24C and SEC24D. May package preferentially cargos with cytoplasmic DxE or LxxLE motifs and may also recognize conformational epitopes (PubMed:17499046, PubMed:18843296).

Product Notes

The SEC24B sec24b (Catalog #AAA9231259) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SEC24B Antibody (C-Term) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SEC24B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SEC24B sec24b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SEC24B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
