Intended Uses: This VEGFC ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Rabbit VEGFC. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or test applications!

Principle of the Assay: VEGFC ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-VEGFC antibody and an VEGFC-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with VEGFC-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the VEGFC concentration since VEGFC from samples and VEGFC-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-VEGFC antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by VEGFC from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind VEGFC-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The VEGFC concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor/vascular endothelial growth factor (PDGF/VEGF) family. The encoded protein promotes angiogenesis and endothelial cell growth, and can also affect the permeability of blood vessels. The proprotein is further cleaved into a fully processed form that can bind and activate VEGFR-2 and VEGFR-3 receptors. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]

Binds and activates VEGFR-2 (KDR/FLK1) and VEGFR-3 (FLT4) receptors. Homodimer; non-covalent and antiparallel. Spleen, lymph node, thymus, appendix, bone marrow, heart, placenta, ovary, skeletal muscle, prostate, testis, colon and small intestine and fetal liver, lung and kidney, but not in peripheral blood lymphocyte. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family.
