Rat Xanthine Dehydrogenase (XDH) ELISA Kit | XDH elisa kit
Rat Xanthine Dehydrogenase (XDH) ELISA Kit
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Background: Xanthine dehydrogenase belongs to the group of molybdenum-containing hydroxylases involved in the oxidative metabolism of purines. The enzyme is a homodimer. Xanthine dehydrogenase can be converted to xanthine oxidase by reversible sulfhydryl oxidation or by irreversible proteolytic modification. The three substrates of this enzyme are xanthine, NAD+, and H2O, whereas its three products are urate, NADH, and H+.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases, to be specific, those acting on CH or CH2 group with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor.Defects in xanthine dehydrogenase cause xanthinuria, may contribute to adult respiratory stress syndrome, and may potentiate influenza infection through an oxygen metabolite-dependent mechanism.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the xanthine dehydrogenase protein family. The encoded protein has been identified as a moonlighting protein based on its ability to perform mechanistically distinct functions. The encoded protein is involved in purine degradation and functions as both a dehydrogenase and an oxidase. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014]
Uniprot Description
XDH: Key enzyme in purine degradation. Catalyzes the oxidation of hypoxanthine to xanthine. Catalyzes the oxidation of xanthine to uric acid. Contributes to the generation of reactive oxygen species. Has also low oxidase activity towards aldehydes (in vitro). Defects in XDH are the cause of xanthinuria type 1 (XU1). Xanthinuria is characterized by excretion of very large amounts of xanthine in the urine and a tendency to form xanthine stones. Uric acid is strikingly diminished in serum and urine. XU1 is due to isolated xanthine dehydrogenase. XU1 patients can metabolize allopurinol. Belongs to the xanthine dehydrogenase family.

Product Notes
The Rat XDH xdh (Catalog #AAA9711600) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9711600 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat XDH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Xanthine Dehydrogenase (XDH), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
