Intended Uses: This CLIA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Rat CT concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This CLIA kit uses the Sandwich- CLIA principle. The micro CLIA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Rat CT. Standards or samples are added to the micro CLIA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Rat CT and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Rat CT, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear fluorescence. The Relative light unit (RLU) value is measured by the Chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer. The RLU value is positively associated with the concentration of Rat CT. You can calculate the concentration of Rat CT in the samples by comparing the RLU value of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the peptide hormones calcitonin, calcitonin gene-related peptide and katacalcin by tissue-specific alternative RNA splicing of the gene transcripts and cleavage of inactive precursor proteins. Calcitonin is involved in calcium regulation and acts to regulate phosphorus metabolism. Calcitonin gene-related peptide functions as a vasodilator and as an antimicrobial peptide while katacalcin is a calcium-lowering peptide. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2014]

Uniprot Description

CALCA: Calcitonin causes a rapid but short-lived drop in the level of calcium and phosphate in blood by promoting the incorporation of those ions in the bones. Belongs to the calcitonin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Rat CT calca (Catalog #AAA2532661) is a CLIA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2532661 CLIA Kit recognizes Rat CT. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CT (Calcitonin), CLIA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
