Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of ORM1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between ORM1 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between ORM1 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.

Related Product Information for ORM1 elisa kit
Intended Uses: This ORM1 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Porcine ORM1. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or test applications!

Principle of the Assay: ORM1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing an anti-ORM1 antibody and an ORM1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with ORM1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the ORM1 concentration since ORM1 from samples and ORM1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-ORM1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by ORM1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind ORM1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The ORM1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a key acute phase plasma protein. Because of its increase due to acute inflammation, this protein is classified as an acute-phase reactant. The specific function of this protein has not yet been determined; however, it may be involved in aspects of immunosuppression. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ORM1: Functions as transport protein in the blood stream. Binds various ligands in the interior of its beta-barrel domain. Also binds synthetic drugs and influences their distribution and availability in the body. Appears to function in modulating the activity of the immune system during the acute-phase reaction. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Lipocalin family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q32

Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: regulation of immune system process; transport; acute-phase response; inflammatory response

Product Notes

The Porcine ORM1 orm1 (Catalog #AAA7247283) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7247283 ELISA Kit recognizes Porcine ORM1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Alpha-1-acid glycoprotein 1 (ORM1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
