Related Product Information for anti-VISA antibody
Rabbit anti VISA antibody recognizes the human Mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein (MAVS), also known as Virus-induced-signalling-adaptor (VISA), and KIAA1271, VISA is a 540 amino acid outer mitochondrial membrane protein containing a single CARD domain. VISA is an important protein required for innate immune defence against viruses (Huang et al. 2014). VISA acts downstream of DDX58 and IFIH1/MDA5, which detect intracellular dsRNA produced during viral replication, to coordinate pathways leading to the activation of NF-kappa-B, IRF3 and IRF7, and to the subsequent induction of antiviral cytokines such as IFN-beta and RANTES (CCL5). VISA is believed to activate the same pathways following detection of extracellular dsRNA by TLR3 and it has been hypothosized that VISA is involved in the regulation of apoptosis following viral infection (Lei et al. 2009). VISA is a ubiquitously expressed protein present in a range of cell types including T-cells, monocytes and epithelial cells, with highest levels in tissues of the heart, skeletal muscle, liver, placenta and in peripheral blood leukocytes. Multiple isoforms of VISA generated by alternative splicing have been identified. Rabbit anti VISA antibody is reactive with full length VISA isoform 1. It does not react with isoforms 2,3,5 or 6, reactivity with isoform 4 is unknown.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an intermediary protein necessary in the virus-triggered beta interferon signaling pathways. It is required for activation of transcription factors which regulate expression of beta interferon and contributes to antiviral immunity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Uniprot Description

MAVS: Required for innate immune defense against viruses. Acts downstream of DDX58/RIG-I and IFIH1/MDA5, which detect intracellular dsRNA produced during viral replication, to coordinate pathways leading to the activation of NF-kappa-B, IRF3 and IRF7, and to the subsequent induction of antiviral cytokines such as IFN-beta and RANTES (CCL5). May activate the same pathways following detection of extracellular dsRNA by TLR3. May protect cells from apoptosis. Interacts with DDX58/RIG-I, IFIH1/MDA5, TRAF2 and TRAF6. May interact with IRF3, FADD, RIPK1, CHUK and IKBKB. Does not interact with TBK1. Interacts with and is cleaved by HCV and hepatitis GB virus B NS3/4A proteases. Interacts with and is cleaved by HHAV protein 3ABC. Interacts with NLRX1. Interaction with NLRX1 requires the CARD domain. Interacts with PSMA7. Interacts with TRAFD1. Interacts (via C-terminus) with PCBP2 in a complex containing MAVS/IPS1, PCBP2 and ITCH. Interacts with CYLD. Interacts with SRC. Interacts with DHX58/LGP2 and IKBKE. Present in T-cells, monocytes, epithelial cells and hepatocytes. Ubiquitously expressed, with highest levels in heart, skeletal muscle, liver, placenta and peripheral blood leukocytes. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The VISA mavs (Catalog #AAA223807) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The RABBIT ANTI VISA reacts with Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VISA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Paraffin*, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 56kDa in Rat brain tissue lysate. Immunohistology - Paraffin: Maximum Dilution: 2.5ug/ml; Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose. Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.5; Maximum Dilution: 1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VISA mavs for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VISA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
