Related Product Information for anti-VEGF-B antibody
Background: VEGF-B, a member of the VEGF family, is a potent growth and angiogenic cytokine. It promotes DNA synthesis in endothelial cells, regulates angiogenesis and vascular permeability, and inhibits apoptosis in certain smooth muscle cells and neurons. VEGF-B is expressed in all tissues except the liver. It forms cell surfaced-associated disulfide linked homodimers and can form heterodimers with VEGF-A. There are two known isoforms, formed by alternative splicing, which have been designated VEGF-B167 and VEGF-B186. Both forms have identical amino-terminal sequences encoding a "cysteine knot" like structural motif, but differ in their carboxyl-terminal domains. Both VEGF-B isoforms signal only thromugh the VEGFR1 receptor. Recombinant human VEGF-B is a 38.0 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric protein consisting of two 167 amino acid polypeptide chains.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor)/VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) family. The VEGF family members regulate the formation of blood vessels and are involved in endothelial cell physiology. This member is a ligand for VEGFR-1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1) and NRP-1 (neuropilin-1). Studies in mice showed that this gene was co-expressed with nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes and the encoded protein specifically controlled endothelial uptake of fatty acids. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Uniprot Description

VEGFB: Growth factor for endothelial cells. VEGF-B167 binds heparin and neuropilin-1 whereas the binding to neuropilin-1 of VEGF-B186 is regulated by proteolysis. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Can also form heterodimer with VEGF. Expressed in all tissues except liver. Highest levels found in heart, skeletal muscle and pancreas. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The VEGF-B vegfb (Catalog #AAA841047) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The VEGF-B Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VEGF-B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot analysis (0.5-4 ug/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Recombinant human VEGF-B can be used as a positive control. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VEGF-B vegfb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VEGF-B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
