Related Product Information for anti-VANGL2 antibody
Planar cell polarity (PCP) is the term given to global cell polarization, such as the alignment of mammalian body hair along the anterior-posterior axis or the orientation of steriocilia bundles in the inner ear. VANGL2 is a PCP protein that is involved in the transmission of directional cues to align either individual cells within an epithelial sheet or multicellular clusters, which polarize as a group (Devenport and Fuchs, 2008 [PubMed 18849982]).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane protein involved in the regulation of planar cell polarity, especially in the stereociliary bundles of the cochlea. The encoded protein transmits directional signals to individual cells or groups of cells in epithelial sheets. This protein is also involved in the development of the neural plate. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Uniprot Description

VANGL2: Involved in the control of early morphogenesis and patterning of both axial midline structures and the development of neural plate. Plays a role in the regulation of planar cell polarity, particularly in the orientation of stereociliary bundles in the cochlea. Required for polarization and movement of myocardializing cells in the outflow tract and seems to act via RHOA signaling to regulate this process. Interacts through its C-terminal region with the N- terminal half of DVL1, DVL2 and DVL3. The PDZ domain of DVL1, DVL2 and DVL3 is required for the interaction. Also interacts with the PDZ domains of MAGI3, SCRIB/SCRB1 and FZD3. Belongs to the Vang family.

Product Notes

The VANGL2 vangl2 (Catalog #AAA643360) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The VANGL2, NT (VANGL2, KIAA1215, STB1, Vang-like protein 2, Loop-tail protein 1 homolog, Strabismus 1, Van Gogh-like protein 2) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VANGL2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VANGL2 vangl2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VANGL2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
