Related Product Information for anti-uPAR antibody
Background: uPAR (Urokinase plasminogen activator receptor) is a 55 kDa glycoprotein I-anchored surface receptor specific for urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA). Upon binding to uPAR, uPA converts the surface bound, large serum beta-globulin, plasminogen to plasmin. Plasmin, which is also designated fibrinolysin, is a trypsin-like enzyme that acts on Arg-Lys bonds and induces pericellular proteolysis in fibrin and fibrinogen, and thereby contributes to the systematic activation of the coagulation cascade. uPA and uPAR are known to be overexpressed in mesenchymal and epithelial tumor cells and are required for tumor invasion and metastasis.

NCBI Description

receptor for urokinase-plasminogen activator; may play a central role in malignant tumour progression [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

uPAR: Acts as a receptor for urokinase plasminogen activator. Plays a role in localizing and promoting plasmin formation. Mediates the proteolysis-independent signal transduction activation effects of U-PA. It is subject to negative-feedback regulation by U-PA which cleaves it into an inactive form. Monomer (Probable). Interacts with MRC2. Interacts (via the UPAR/Ly6 domains) with SRPX2. Expressed in neurons of the rolandic area of the brain. Expressed in the brain. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Receptor, misc.; Membrane protein, GPI anchor; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Cellular Component: focal adhesion; integral to plasma membrane; extracellular region; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein domain specific binding; enzyme binding; U-plasminogen activator receptor activity; receptor binding

Biological Process: mesenchymal cell differentiation; skeletal muscle regeneration; spermatogenesis; negative regulation of apoptosis

Product Notes

The uPAR plaur (Catalog #AAA841353) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The uPAR Antibody reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's uPAR can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western blotting (0.5-1 ug/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually. The antibody recognizes 33 kDa rat uPAR. Reactivity to other species has not been tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the uPAR plaur for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "uPAR, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
