Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20 degree C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for anti-Uggt1 antibody
UDP-glucose:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase (UGGT) is a 170kD lumenal endoplasmic reticulum (ER) resident protein that catalyzes monoglucosylation of high mannose oligosaccharides (1). UGGT catalyzes the transfer of glucose from UDP-glucose to Man7-9GlcNAc2-moiety of unfolded glycoproteins in a Ca2+ dependent reaction (2, 3). UGGT binds unfolded glycoprotein via two elements on its substrate: a N-acetylglucosamine unit on the oligosaccharide and hydrophobic amino acids that are exposed in the denatured conformation (4). It is postulated that UGGT serves as a sensor that is able to distinguish between folded and denatured protein in the ER.

NCBI Description

enzyme that catalyzes the addition of a glucose residue from UDP-glucose to an N -linked Man(9)GlcNAc(2)oligosaccharide [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

UGCGL1: Recognizes glycoproteins with minor folding defects. Reglucosylates single N-glycans near the misfolded part of the protein, thus providing quality control for protein folding in the endoplasmic reticulum. Reglucosylated proteins are recognized by calreticulin for recycling to the endoplasmic reticulum and refolding or degradation. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 8 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transferase; EC 2.4.1.-

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum lumen; endoplasmic reticulum; ER-Golgi intermediate compartment

Molecular Function: protein binding; unfolded protein binding; UDP-glucose:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase activity

Biological Process: 'de novo' posttranslational protein folding; protein folding; protein amino acid glycosylation

Product Notes

The Uggt1 uggt1 (Catalog #AAA613825) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The UGGT (UDP-glucose glycoprotein Glucosyltransferase) reacts with Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's UGGT can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Dilution: Western Blot (Colorimetric): 1:100 Western Blot (ECL): 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Uggt1 uggt1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "UGGT, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
