NCBI Description

UDP-glucose:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase (UGT) is a soluble protein of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) that selectively reglucosylates unfolded glycoproteins, thus providing quality control for protein transport out of the ER.[supplied by OMIM, Oct 2009]

Uniprot Description

UGCGL1: Recognizes glycoproteins with minor folding defects. Reglucosylates single N-glycans near the misfolded part of the protein, thus providing quality control for protein folding in the endoplasmic reticulum. Reglucosylated proteins are recognized by calreticulin for recycling to the endoplasmic reticulum and refolding or degradation. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 8 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transferase; EC 2.4.1.-

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q14.3

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum lumen; endoplasmic reticulum; ER-Golgi intermediate compartment

Molecular Function: unfolded protein binding; UDP-glucose:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase activity

Biological Process: 'de novo' posttranslational protein folding; cellular protein metabolic process; protein folding; protein amino acid N-linked glycosylation via asparagine; post-translational protein modification

Product Notes

The UGGT1 uggt1 (Catalog #AAA4759719) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The UGGT1 Rabbit pAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's UGGT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). WB: 1:200-1:1000 IHC-P: 1:20-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the UGGT1 uggt1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "UGGT1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
