NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a homolog of the TRM2 gene in S. cerevisiae. The yeast gene encodes a tRNA methyltransferase that plays a role in tRNA maturation. The yeast protein also has endo-exonuclease activity and may be involved in DNA double strand break repair. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcripts encoding different isoforms. Uniprot Description
TRMT2B: Probable S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of 5-methyl-uridine at position 54 (m5U54) in all tRNA. May also have a role in tRNA stabilization or maturation. Belongs to the methyltransferase superfamily. RNA M5U methyltransferase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: EC 2.1.1.35; Methyltransferase
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xq22.1
Cellular Component: mitochondrion
Molecular Function: protein binding; S-adenosylmethionine-dependent tRNA (m5U54) methyltransferase activity
Biological Process: RNA methylation; tRNA processing

Product Notes
The TRMT2B trmt2b (Catalog #AAA7605239) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TRMT2B Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TRMT2B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TRMT2B trmt2b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TRMT2B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
