Application Notes
This affinity purified antibody has been tested for use in ELISA, immunohistochemistry and western blotting. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Paraformaldehyde fixation is recommended for immunohistochemical staining. Expect a band at ~17 kDa in size corresponding to Survivin by western blotting in the appropriate cell lysate or extract.
Immunogen
This IgG fraction antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to a region near the carboxy terminus of human Survivin protein.
Preparation and Storage
This product is stable for several weeks at 4 degree C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at-20 degree C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Expiration date is one (1) year from date of receipt.

Related Product Information for anti-birc5.1.S antibody
Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is related to many diseases, such as cancer. Apoptosis is triggered by a variety of stimuli, including members of the TNF family, and prevented by the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) proteins. IAP proteins form a conserved gene family that binds to and inhibits cell death proteases. A novel IAP protein was recently identified and designated Survivin (also referred to as apoptosis inhibitor 4 (API4) and TIAP). Survivin interacts with the processed form of caspase-3 and inhibits its proteolytic activity. Survivin is predominantly expressed in tissues of embryos, transformed cell lines, and many human cancers and lymphomas.

Uniprot Description

Component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), a complex that acts as a key regulator of mitosis. The CPC complex has essential functions at the centromere in ensuring correct chromosome alignment and segregation and is required for chromatin-induced microtubule stabilization and spindle assembly. Stimulates the mitotic kinase activity of aurkb/aurora-B in the CPC. Does not appear to exhibit anti-apoptotic activity.

Product Notes

The birc5.1.S birc5.1-a (Catalog #AAA4157001) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Survivin Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Survivin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the birc5.1.S birc5.1-a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Survivin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
