Related Product Information for anti-BIRC5 antibody
Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is related to many diseases, such as cancer. Apoptosis is triggered by a variety of stimuli including members in the TNF family and prevented by the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) proteins. IAP proteins form a conserved gene family that binds to and inhibits cell death proteases. A novel IAP protein was recently identified and designated survivin, apoptosis inhibitor 4 (API4), and TIAP.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) gene family, which encode negative regulatory proteins that prevent apoptotic cell death. IAP family members usually contain multiple baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) domains, but this gene encodes proteins with only a single BIR domain. The encoded proteins also lack a C-terminus RING finger domain. Gene expression is high during fetal development and in most tumors, yet low in adult tissues. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Uniprot Description

Survivin: an apoptosis inhibitor that is expressed during the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. Associates with the microtubules of the mitotic spindle and any disruption results in the loss of apoptosis activity. May play a role in neoplasia. Inhibitor of caspase-3 and caspase-7. Two splice variant isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The BIRC5 birc5 (Catalog #AAA248725) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit Polyclonal to Human BIRC5 / Survivin reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BIRC5 / Survivin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin). IHC-P (10 ug/ml). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BIRC5 birc5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BIRC5 / Survivin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
