NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Synaptic vesicle membrane docking and fusion is mediated by SNAREs (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors) located on the vesicle membrane (v-SNAREs) and the target membrane (t-SNAREs). The assembled v-SNARE/t-SNARE complex consists of a bundle of four helices, one of which is supplied by v-SNARE and the other three by t-SNARE. For t-SNAREs on the plasma membrane, the protein syntaxin supplies one helix and the protein encoded by this gene contributes the other two. Therefore, this gene product is a presynaptic plasma membrane protein. It is essential for regulated exocytosis in neuronal cells. Alternative transcript variants encoding two different protein isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012]
Uniprot Description
Function: t-SNARE involved in the molecular regulation of neurotransmitter release. May play an important role in the synaptic function of specific neuronal systems. Associates with proteins involved in vesicle docking and membrane fusion. Regulates plasma membrane recycling through its interaction with CENPF.
Subunit structure: Interacts with CENP and OTOF. Found in a complex containing SYT1, SV2B and syntaxin-1. Associates with the BLOC-1 complex. Isoform 1 and isoform 2 interact with BLOC1S6
By similarity. Part of the SNARE core complex containing SNAP25, VAMP2 and STX1A. This complex binds CPLX1. Interacts with TRIM9, RIMS1, SNAPIN, and HGS. Binds STXBP6. Found in a ternary complex with STX1A and VAMP8. Interacts with EQTN
By similarity. Ref.9 Ref.10 Ref.11 Ref.12
Subcellular location: Cytoplasm › perinuclear region
By similarity. Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor. Cell junction › synapse › synaptosome. Note: Membrane association requires palmitoylation. Expressed throughout cytoplasm, concentrating at the perinuclear region
By similarity. Ref.6 Ref.8
Post-translational modification: Palmitoylated. Cys-85 appears to be the main site, and palmitoylation is required for membrane association
By similarity. Ref.6
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the SNAP-25 family.Contains 2 t-SNARE coiled-coil homology domains.

Product Notes
The SNAP25 snap25 (Catalog #AAA502175) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Phospho-Ser187 SNAP25 reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SNAP25 (Ser187) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Quality Control: Western blots performed on each lot. WB: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SNAP25 snap25 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SNAP25 (Ser187), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
