Related Product Information for anti-SMYD2 antibody
Function: Protein-lysine N-methyltransferase that methylates both histones and non-histone proteins, including p53/TP53 and RB1. Specifically methylates histone H3 'Lys-4' (H3K4me) and dimethylates histone H3 'Lys-36' (H3K36me2). Shows even higher methyltransferase activity on p53/TP53. Monomethylates 'Lys-370' of p53/TP53, leading to decreased DNA-binding activity and subsequent transcriptional regulation activity of p53/TP53. Monomethylates RB1 at 'Lys-860'.
Subunit Structure: Interacts with RNA polymerase II and HELZ. Interacts with SIN3A and HDAC1 (By similarity). Interacts (via MYND-type zinc finger) with EPB41L3. Interacts (via SET domain) with p53/TP53. Interacts with RB1 and HSP90AA1.
Similarity: Belongs to the class V-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily.

NCBI Description

SET domain-containing proteins, such as SMYD2, catalyze lysine methylation (Brown et al., 2006 [PubMed 16805913]).[supplied by OMIM, Nov 2008]

Uniprot Description

Protein-lysine N-methyltransferase that methylates both histones and non-histone proteins, including p53/TP53 and RB1.

Product Notes

The SMYD2 smyd2 (Catalog #AAA9608930) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SMYD2 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SMYD2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:1000-3000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SMYD2 smyd2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SMYD2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
