Preparation and Storage
This antibody can be stored at 2-8 degree C for one month without detectable loss of activity. Antibody products are stable for twelve months from date of receipt when stored at -20 degree C to -80 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Stem-loop binding protein (SLBP) is a 31 kDa protein that is central to the regulation of histone mRNAs and is highly conserved in metazoans. In the vertebrates, the N-terminal domain of SLBP has sequence determinants necessary for histone mRNA translation, SLBP degradation, cyclin binding, and histone mRNA import. SLBP binds the 3' end of histone mRNA and is present both in the nucleus and in the cytoplasm on the polyribosomes. SLBP participates in the processing of the histone pre-mRNA and translation of the mature message. Histone mRNAs are rapidly degraded when cells are treated with inhibitors of DNA replication. SLBP is mainly expressed in the S phase and this is a major mechanism to limit bulk histone production to the S phase. At the end of the S phase, SLBP is rapidly degraded by the proteasome, depending on two phosphorylations on Thr 60 and Thr 61.
