NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the shisa family. The encoded protein is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, and together with p53 induces apoptosis in a caspase-dependent manner. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosome X. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2016]

Uniprot Description

Function: Can induce apoptosis in a caspase-dependent manner and plays a role in p53/TP53-dependent apoptosis. Ref.1

Subunit structure: Interacts with PDCD6; PDCD6 can stabilze SHISA5. Ref.7

Subcellular location: Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Nucleus membrane Ref.1.

Induction: Induced in a p53/TP53-dependent manner in response to cellular stress. Ref.1

Domain: The proline-rich region is required for endoplasmic reticulum localization. Ref.1

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the shisa family.

Product Notes

The SHISA5 shisa5 (Catalog #AAA6347429) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SHISA5, ID (SHISA5, SCOTIN, Protein shisa-5, Putative NF-kappa-B-activating protein 120, Scotin) (APC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SHISA5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SHISA5 shisa5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SHISA5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
