Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Application Notes
IF: 1:100-1:200
IHC: 1:50-1:100
Biological Significance
SEK1 activates the MAP kinase homologues SAPK and JNK in response to various cellular stresses and inflamatory cytokines. Activation of SEK1 occurs through MEKK phosphorylation of serine and threonine residues at positions 257 and 261, respectively. Like MEK, SEK is a dual-specificity protein kinase that phosphorylates SAPK/JNK at a conserved T*PY* site in its activation loop. Phosphorylation by Akt at Ser80 inhibits SEK1 and suppresses stress-activated signal transduction.
Cross-Reactivity
Human, Mouse, Rat
Immunogen
SEK1 antibody was raised in Rabbit using the peptide sequence around aa 259~263 (A-K-T-R-D) derived from Human SEK1/MKK4 as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

MKK4: dual specificity kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1 and -2 as well as p38 but not ERK1 or -2. Mediates cellular responses to various cellular stresses and inflammatory cytokines. Phosphorylation by Akt inhibits MKK4 and suppresses stress-activated signal transduction.

Product Notes

The SEK1 map2k4 (Catalog #AAA839763) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's SEK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IF: 1:100-1:200 IHC: 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SEK1 map2k4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SEK1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
