Western Blot: Approx 85-90kDa band observed in Human Heart lysates (calculated MW of 87.4kDa according to NP_003684;). Recommended concentration: 0.3-1. 0ug/ml. An additional faint band of 28kDa was consistently observed, however this band was not blocked by the immunizing peptide and it is therefore a non-specific signal. We call for caution when used for other assays than Western blot.
Immunocytochemsitry/Immunofluorescence: This antibody has been successfully used in ICC/IF for HUVEC cells.

The protein encoded by this gene is a scavenger receptor that is expressed in endothelial cells. It regulates the uptake of chemically modified low density lipoproteins, including acetylated low density lipoprotein (Ac-LDL), and it may be involved in atherogenesis. This gene is regulated by the transcription factors ZNF444/EZF-2 and SP1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2013]
