Related Product Information for anti-SCARB1 antibody
SCARB1 Antibody: Scavenger receptor class B member 1 (SCARB1), also known as SR-BI, is part of the scavenger receptor superfamily, which is composed of many members with diverse structures, expression patterns, and functions. SCARB1 is a multi-ligand cell-surface receptor that mediates the selective uptake of lipid from HDL cholesterol into cells and is expressed in steroidogenic tissues in adult animals. Other ligands of SCARB1 include native, acetylated, or oxidized LDL and anionic phospholipids. SCARB1-deficient mice have elevated HDL levels and increased susceptibility to atherosclerosis on fat feeding, indicating its importance in the regulation of cholesterol homeostasis. Along with CLDN1, LDL-R, and the tetraspanin superfamily member CD81, SCARB1 has been reported to be an entry factor for the Hepatitis C virus. At least two isoforms of SCARB1 are known to exist.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a plasma membrane receptor for high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL). The encoded protein mediates cholesterol transfer to and from HDL. In addition, this protein is a receptor for hepatitis C virus glycoprotein E2. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

Uniprot Description

SCARB1: Receptor for different ligands such as phospholipids, cholesterol ester, lipoproteins, phosphatidylserine and apoptotic cells. Probable receptor for HDL, located in particular region of the plasma membrane, called caveolae. Facilitates the flux of free and esterified cholesterol between the cell surface and extracellular donors and acceptors, such as HDL and to a lesser extent, apoB-containing lipoproteins and modified lipoproteins. Probably involved in the phagocytosis of apoptotic cells, via its phosphatidylserine binding activity. Receptor for hepatitis C virus glycoprotein E2. Binding between SCARB1 and E2 was found to be independent of the genotype of the viral isolate. Plays an important role in the uptake of HDL cholesteryl ester. Belongs to the CD36 family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The SCARB1 scarb1 (Catalog #AAA150134) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SCARB1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SCARB1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). SCARB1 antibody can be used for detection of SCARB1 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 2.5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SCARB1 scarb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCARB1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
