NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene phosphorylates vitamin B6, a step required for the conversion of vitamin B6 to pyridoxal-5-phosphate, an important cofactor in intermediary metabolism. The encoded protein is cytoplasmic and probably acts as a homodimer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, but their biological validity has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PDXK: Required for synthesis of pyridoxal-5-phosphate from vitamin B6. Belongs to the pyridoxine kinase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Kinase, other; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - vitamin B6; EC 2.7.1.35

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 21q22.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; nucleoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: ATP binding; lithium ion binding; magnesium ion binding; potassium ion binding; protein homodimerization activity; pyridoxal kinase activity; pyridoxal phosphate binding; sodium ion binding; zinc ion binding

Product Notes

The PDXK pdxk (Catalog #AAA8245622) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Pyridoxal Kinase Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Pyridoxal Kinase can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). WB: 1/500 - 1/2000; IF/ICC: 1/10 - 1/100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PDXK pdxk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Pyridoxal Kinase, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
