NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase phosphorylates the inositol ring of phosphatidylinositol at the 3-prime position. The enzyme comprises a 110 kD catalytic subunit and a regulatory subunit of either 85, 55, or 50 kD. This gene encodes the 85 kD regulatory subunit. Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase plays an important role in the metabolic actions of insulin, and a mutation in this gene has been associated with insulin resistance. Alternative splicing of this gene results in four transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]
Uniprot Description
PIK3R1: regulatory subunit of phosphoinositide-3-kinase. Mediates binding to a subset of tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins through its SH2 domain. Acts as an adapter, mediating the association of the p110 catalytic unit of the alpha, beta and delta enzymes to the plasma membrane, where p110 phosphorylates inositol lipids. May play an additional role in the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton. Necessary for the insulin-stimulated increase in glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis in insulin-sensitive tissues. Its SH2 domains interacts with the YTHM motif of phosphorylated INSR in vitro. Defects in PIK3R1 are a cause of severe insulin resistance. Four alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

The Phospho-PI3 Kinase p85 (Tyr467)/p55 (Tyr199) Rabbit pAb reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PI3 Kinase p85 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunohistochemistry-Frozen (IHC-F), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:100-1:300 IF: 1:200-1:1000 ELISA: 1:10,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the pik3r1 pik3r1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PI3 Kinase p85, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
