Olfactomedin-like (OLFML) proteins are members of the olfactomedin domain-containing secreted glycoprotein (OLF) family. This family has at least four members. OLFML1 (Olfactomedin Like 1) is a Protein Coding gene. The OLFML1 gene, located on 11p15.4, is conserved in chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and frog. hOLFML1 (human olfactomedin-like protein 1), with an olfectamine domain in its C-terminus, is mainly expressed in the small intestine, liver, lung, and heart. An important paralog of this gene is OLFML3. OLFML1 is widely expressed in the ovary, gall bladder, and other tissues. Mutation of OLFML1 leads to impaired osteoblast differentiation and abnormal development of bone tissue. 213 organisms have orthologs with the human gene OLFML1.
