Related Product Information for anti-OAS2 antibody
OAS2 encodes a member of the 2-5A synthetase family, essential proteins involved in the innate immune response to viral infection. The 2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthetase 2 is induced by interferons and uses adenosine triphosphate in 2'-specific nucleotidyl transfer reactions to synthesize 2',5'-oligoadenylates (2-5As). These molecules activate latent RNase L, which results in viral RNA degradation and the inhibition of viral replication. The three known members of this gene family are located in a cluster on chromosome 12. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.

Uniprot Description

OAS2: Interferon-induced, dsRNA-activated antiviral enzyme which plays a critical role in cellular innate antiviral response. In addition, it may also play a role in other cellular processes such as apoptosis, cell growth, differentiation and gene regulation. Synthesizes higher oligomers of 2'-5'-oligoadenylates (2-5A) from ATP which then bind to the inactive monomeric form of ribonuclease L (RNase L) leading to its dimerization and subsequent activation. Activation of RNase L leads to degradation of cellular as well as viral RNA, resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis, thus terminating viral replication. Can mediate the antiviral effect via the classical RNase L-dependent pathway or an alternative antiviral pathway independent of RNase L. Belongs to the 2-5A synthase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The OAS2 oas2 (Catalog #AAA9703915) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The OAS2 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's OAS2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC-P: 1:100-1:300 ELISA: 1:20000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OAS2 oas2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "OAS2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
