Related Product Information for TMED1 active protein
Background: TMED1 belongs to the EMP24/GP25L family. It contains 1 GOLD domain and is widely expressed. TMED1 binds to its receptor IL1RL1 and results in the activation of DNA binding by nuclear factor NF-kappa-B or transcription from the IL8 promoter and most likely requires other proteins to elicit these activities. Dendritic cells from Peyer's patches (but not from spleen) express TMED1 in response to treatment with LPS. TMED1 may play a role in vesicular protein trafficking, mainly in the early secretory pathway. It may act as a cargo receptor at the lumenal side for incorporation of secretory cargo molecules into transport vesicles and may be involved in vesicle coat formation at the cytoplasmic side.

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to the TMED (transmembrane emp24 domain-containing) protein family, which is involved in the vesicular trafficking of proteins. The protein encoded by this gene was identified by its interaction with interleukin 1 receptor-like 1 (IL1RL1) and may play a role in innate immunity. This protein lacks any similarity to other interleukin 1 ligands. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants of this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Uniprot Description

TMED1: Potential role in vesicular protein trafficking, mainly in the early secretory pathway. May act as a cargo receptor at the lumenal side for incorporation of secretory cargo molecules into transport vesicles and may be involved in vesicle coat formation at the cytoplasmic side. Belongs to the EMP24/GP25L family.

Product Notes

The TMED1 tmed1 (Catalog #AAA8121372) is an Active Protein produced from HEK293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Met1-Asn19 4. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TMED1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
