Related Product Information for anti-NMNAT1 antibody
Axonal degeneration contributes to the pathogenesis of several neurodegenerative states following mechanical or neurotoxic injury. Several studies have now demonstrated that overexpression of Nmnat1 (nicotinamide mononucleotide adenylyltransferase), a ubiquitously expressed nuclear enzyme that catalyzes an essential step in the NAD (NADP) biosynthetic pathway, has the ability to protect axons from degeneration following traumatic injury.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an enzyme which catalyzes a key step in the biosynthesis of the coenzyme NAD. The encoded protein is one of several nicotinamide nucleotide adenylyltransferases. Studies in Drosophila and mammalian neurons have shown the encoded protein can confer protection to damaged neurons. This protection requires enzymatic activity which increases NAD levels and activates a nuclear deacetylase which is the protective molecule. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on chromosomes 1, 3, 4, 14 and 15. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Uniprot Description

NMNAT1: Catalyzes the formation of NAD(+) from nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and ATP. Can also use the deamidated form; nicotinic acid mononucleotide (NaMN) as substrate with the same efficiency. Can use triazofurin monophosphate (TrMP) as substrate. Also catalyzes the reverse reaction, i.e. the pyrophosphorolytic cleavage of NAD(+). For the pyrophosphorolytic activity, prefers NAD(+) and NAAD as substrates and degrades NADH, nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NHD) and nicotinamide guanine dinucleotide (NGD) less effectively. Fails to cleave phosphorylated dinucleotides NADP(+), NADPH and NAADP(+). Protects against axonal degeneration following mechanical or toxic insults. Belongs to the eukaryotic NMN adenylyltransferase family.

Product Notes

The NMNAT1 nmnat1 (Catalog #AAA626472) is an Antibody produced from Sheep and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NMNAT1 (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide Adenylyltransferase 1, NMN Adenylyltransferase 1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NMNAT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP). Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoprecipitation, and Western Blot. Dilution: ELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml Western Blot: 1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NMNAT1 nmnat1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NMNAT1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
