NCBI Description

This gene encodes a divergent member of the I-kappa-B family of proteins. Its function has not been determined. The gene lies within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I region on chromosome 6. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009]

Uniprot Description

NFKBIL1: Involved in the regulation of innate immune response. Acts as negative regulator of Toll-like receptor and interferon- regulatory factor (IRF) signaling pathways. Contributes to the negative regulation of transcriptional activation of NF-kappa-B target genes in response to endogenous proinflammatory stimuli. Defects in NFKBIL1 are a cause of susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is a systemic inflammatory disease with autoimmune features and a complex genetic component. It primarily affects the joints and is characterized by inflammatory changes in the synovial membranes and articular structures, widespread fibrinoid degeneration of the collagen fibers in mesenchymal tissues, and by atrophy and rarefaction of bony structures. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transcription regulation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p21.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; intermediate filament cytoskeleton; cytosol; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: negative regulation of lipopolysaccharide-mediated signaling pathway; I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade; cytoplasmic sequestering of transcription factor; inhibition of NF-kappaB transcription factor; negative regulation of toll-like receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of tumor necrosis factor production

Product Notes

The NFKBIL1 nfkbil1 (Catalog #AAA9214512) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 256-285. The NFKBIL1 Antibody (Center) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NFKBIL1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NFKBIL1 nfkbil1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NFKBIL1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
