Related Product Information for anti-Nacalpha antibody
Nascent polypeptide-associated complex (NAC) is an abundant cytosolic protein involved in cotranslational targeting of polypeptides to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. NAC preparations consist of two copurifying polypeptides termed alpha- and beta-NAC that form a very stable complex in vivo and in vitro, and a functional complex can be reconstituted from the individual subunits. A dissection of the contributions of the individual subunits to NACs function revealed that both subunits are in direct contact with nascent polypeptide chains on the ribosome and that both contribute to the prevention of inappropriate interactions. Alpha-NAC is a coactivator of AP-1-mediated transcription. The alpha-NAC protein functions as a transcriptional coactivator by potentiating the activity of the chimeric Gal4-VP16 activator and of c-Jun homodimers. alpha-NAC binds to and regulates FADD function, which is a critical mediator of signal transduction pathways activated by several members of the TNF receptor gene superfamily. Human alpha-NAC is decreased in patients with Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome.

Uniprot Description

Function: May promote appropriate targeting of ribosome-nascent polypeptide complexes

By similarity. Required for correct localization of the osk/oskar protein to the posterior pole during embryonic development. The osk protein directs the recruitment of molecules responsible for posterior body patterning and germline formation in the embryo. Ref.6

Subunit structure: Part of the nascent polypeptide-associated complex (NAC), consisting of Nac-alpha and bicaudal (bic).

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the NAC-alpha family.Contains 1 NAC-A/B (NAC-alpha/beta) domain.Contains 1 UBA domain.

Product Notes

The Nacalpha nacalpha (Catalog #AAA627107) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NAC, alpha (Nascent polypeptide-associated complex) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NAC, alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Nacalpha nacalpha for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NAC, alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
