Related Product Information for anti-N-CoR antibody
Retinoids are metabolites of vitamin A (retinol) and are believed to represent important signaling molecules during vertebrate development and tissue differentiation. Two families of retinoid receptors have been identified. Retinoic acid receptors (RARs), include RARalpha, RARbeta and RARgamma, each of which have a high affinity for all-trans retinoic acids and belong to the same class of nuclear transcription factors as thyroid hormone receptors, vitamin D3 receptor and ecdysone receptor. Two cofactors that function to repress transcription, designated SMRT and N-CoR, have been shown to associate with the thyroid receptor and RAR in their unliganded state and are released from them upon ligand binding. The carboxy termini of both proteins contain receptor interacting domains while their amino termini contain two previously undescribed repressor domains. SMRT (silencing mediator for RARs and TRs) is 1495 amino acids in length with an estimated molecular weight of 168 kDa. N-CoR (nuclear receptor corepressor) is a protein 2453 amino acids in length with a relative molecular weight of 270 kDa.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that mediates ligand-independent transcription repression of thyroid-hormone and retinoic-acid receptors by promoting chromatin condensation and preventing access of the transcription machinery. It is part of a complex which also includes histone deacetylases and transcriptional regulators similar to the yeast protein Sin3p. This gene is located between the Charcot-Marie-Tooth and Smith-Magenis syndrome critical regions on chromosome 17. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 17 and 20.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Uniprot Description

N-CoR1: is a protein that regulates the activity of some transcription factors, including nuclear receptors, by promoting histone deacetylation and chromatin condensation, thereby altering the accessibility of various genes to the transcriptional machinery. Is known to play a role genetic programming including that for myogenesis. Is a component of a large corepressor complex that contains SIN3A/B and histone deacetylases HDAC1 and HDAC2. This complex associates with the thyroid and the retinoic acid receptors in the absence of ligand. Interacts with the catalytic domain of HDAC9. Increased expression correlates with the loss of vitamin D responsiveness in aggressive androgen-independent prostate cancer cells. Its gene tends to be overexpressed in multiple-myeloma cell lines.

Product Notes

The N-CoR ncor1 (Catalog #AAA3001119) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The N-CoR (H76) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's N-CoR can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). WB: 1:500-1:1000 IHC: 1:50-1:200 IF: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the N-CoR ncor1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "N-CoR, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
