Related Product Information for anti-Manganese superoxide dismutase antibody
SOD (Superoxide dismutase) is responsible for the elimination of cytotoxic active oxygen by catalyzing the dismutation of the superoxide radical to oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. There are three SOD isoenzymes in mammalian cells, they are: EC SOD (extracellular SOD), Cu/Zn SOD (copper and zinc-containing SOD) and Mn SOD (manganese-containing SOD).

NCBI Description

manganese superoxide dismutase; intramitochondrial free radical scavenging enzyme [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

SOD2: Destroys superoxide anion radicals which are normally produced within the cells and which are toxic to biological systems. Genetic variation in SOD2 is associated with susceptibility to microvascular complications of diabetes type 6 (MVCD6). These are pathological conditions that develop in numerous tissues and organs as a consequence of diabetes mellitus. They include diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy leading to end-stage renal disease, and diabetic neuropathy. Diabetic retinopathy remains the major cause of new- onset blindness among diabetic adults. It is characterized by vascular permeability and increased tissue ischemia and angiogenesis. Belongs to the iron/manganese superoxide dismutase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Manganese superoxide dismutase sod2 (Catalog #AAA565332) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mn SOD polyclonal antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Bovine, Chicken, Clam, Dog, Drosophila, Guinea pig, Hamster, Monkey, Porcine, Rabbit, Sheep, Xenopus and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Mn SOD can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). Flow Cytometry (1:100) Immunoprecipitation (1:100) Western Blot (1:1,000, colorimetric) Suggested dilutions/conditions may not be available for all applications. Detects a band of ~25kDa by Western blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Manganese superoxide dismutase sod2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Mn SOD, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
