Related Product Information for anti-sodA antibody
Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is responsible for the elimination of cytotoxic active oxygen by catalyzing the dismutation of the superoxide radical to oxygen and hydrogen peroxide (1, 2, 3). There are three SOD isoenzymes in mammalian cells. They are: extracellular SOD (EC SOD), copper and zinc-containing SOD (CuZn SOD) and manganese-containing SOD (Mn SOD, SOD-2). The CuZn form contains Cu and Zn ions and exists as a 32kD dimer in the cytosol. Mn SOD is an 80kD tetramer that contains Mn ion and resides in the mitochondrial matrix. Mn SOD is a tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-inducible enzyme that protects cells from TNF-mediated apoptosis (4) via superoxide anion detoxification and the subsequent regulation of apoptosis through cytochrome c release and the modulation of the redox state of the mitochondria (6). Mn SOD has also been shown to be a tumor suppressor in human breast cancer (7). Overexpression of this enzyme protects neurons from NMDA-and nitric oxide-induced neurotoxicity (5).

Product Notes

The sodA soda (Catalog #AAA610841) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Superoxide Dismutase, Mn (SOD Mn) reacts with Bovine, Canine, Chicken, Drosophila, Guinea Pig, Hamster, Human, Monkey, Mouse, Porcine, Rabbit, Rat, Sheep, Xenopus and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Superoxide Dismutase, Mn can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Dilution: Western Blot (Colorimetric) (8): 0.5ug/ml Flow Cytometry: 10ug/ml. Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher. Positive Control: Rat Brain Tissue Extract. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the sodA soda for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Superoxide Dismutase, Mn, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
