Related Product Information for anti-LIPA antibody
LIPA (Lipase A, Lysosomal Acid Type) is a Protein Coding gene. 2 alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. This gene encodes lipase A, the lysosomal acid lipase (also known as cholesterol ester hydrolase). LIPA is involved in the hydrolysis of triglycerides (TGs) and cholesteryl esters (CEs) delivered to lysosomes. It is broadly expressed in the spleen, small intestine, and other tissues. LIPA deficiency in the human causes two distinct phenotypes characterized by intracellular storage of CE and derangements in the control of cholesterol production, namely the Wolman disease (WD) and the CE storage disease (CESD). Loss of LIPA activity leads to diseases such as Wolman's Disease and Cholesterol Ester Storage Disease.

Uniprot Description

Crucial for the intracellular hydrolysis of cholesteryl esters and triglycerides that have been internalized via receptor-mediated endocytosis of lipoprotein particles. Important in mediating the effect of LDL (low density lipoprotein) uptake on suppression of hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase and activation of endogenous cellular cholesteryl ester formation ().

Product Notes

The LIPA lipa (Catalog #AAA8103752) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-LIPA Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LIPA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LIPA lipa for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LIPA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
