NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a BTB-Kelch-related protein. The encoded protein may be involved in protein degradation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with retinitis pigmentosa 42. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]
Uniprot Description
Function: Substrate-specific adapter of a BCR (BTB-CUL3-RBX1) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. The BCR(KLHL7) complex acts by mediating ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of substrate proteins. Probably mediates 'Lys-48'-linked ubiquitination. Ref.10
Pathway: Protein modification; protein ubiquitination.
Subunit structure: Homodimer. Component of the BCR(KLHL7) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, at least composed of CUL3 and KLHL7 and RBX1. Ref.10
Subcellular location: Nucleus Ref.9.
Tissue specificity: Widely expressed, with highest levels in adult and fetal heart, CNS and adult testis. Ref.9
Involvement in disease: Retinitis pigmentosa 42 (RP42) [MIM:612943]: A retinal dystrophy belonging to the group of pigmentary retinopathies. Retinitis pigmentosa is characterized by retinal pigment deposits visible on fundus examination and primary loss of rod photoreceptor cells followed by secondary loss of cone photoreceptors. Patients typically have night vision blindness and loss of midperipheral visual field. As their condition progresses, they lose their far peripheral visual field and eventually central vision as well.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.10 Ref.12 Ref.13 Ref.14
Sequence similarities: Contains 1 BACK (BTB/Kelch associated) domain.Contains 1 BTB (POZ) domain.Contains 6 Kelch repeats.

Product Notes
The KLHL7 klhl7 (Catalog #AAA3015468) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KLHL7 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Chicken, Dog, Pig, Cow, Horse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KLHL7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KLHL7 klhl7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KLHL7, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
