Related Product Information for TAOK3 / JIK / MAP3K18 recombinant protein
Background: Serine/threonine-protein kinase TAO3, also known as cutaneous T-cell lymphoma-associated antigen HD-CL-09, CTCL-associated antigen HD-CL-09, Dendritic cell-derived protein kinase, JNK / SAPK-inhibitory kinase, Jun kinase-inhibitory kinase, Kinase from chicken homolog A, Thousand and one amino acid protein 3, JIK, TAOK3 and MAP3K18, is cytoplasm and peripheral membrane protein which belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family and STE20 subfamily. Protein kinases are pivotal regulators of cell signaling that modulate each other's functions and activities through site-specific phosphorylation events. TAOK3 / JIK contains one protein kinase domain. TAOK3 / JIK is ubiquitously expressed at a low level, and highly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes (PBLs), thymus, spleen, kidney, skeletal muscle, heart and liver. TAOK3 / JIK inhibits the basal activity of Jun kinase. It is negatively regulated by epidermal growth factor (EGF). When overexpressed, TAOK3 / JIK may activate ERK1 / ERK2 and JNK / SAPK.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the amino acids (Met 1-Asp 411) of human TAOK3 (Q9H2K8-1) was fused with the N-terminal polyhistidine-tagged GST tag at the N-terminus.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a serine/threonine protein kinase that activates the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade but inhibits the basal activity of the MAPK8/JNK cascade. The encoded protein is a member of the GCK subfamily of STE20-like kinases. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2016]

Uniprot Description

TAO3: Serine/threonine-protein kinase that acts as a regulator of the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade and of the MAPK8/JNK cascade. Acts as an activator of the p38/MAPK14 stress- activated MAPK cascade. In response to DNA damage, involved in the G2/M transition DNA damage checkpoint by activating the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade, probably by mediating phosphorylation of upstream MAP2K3 and MAP2K6 kinases. Inhibits basal activity of MAPK8/JNK cascade and diminishes its activation in response epidermal growth factor (EGF). Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family. STE20 subfamily.

Protein type: EC 2.7.11.1; Kinase, protein; Protein kinase, STE; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); STE group; STE20 family; TAO subfamily

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q24.23

Product Notes

The TAOK3 / JIK / MAP3K18 taok3 (Catalog #AAA2545064) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Baculovirus-Insect Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human TAOK3 (aa 1-411)/GST chimera consists of 648 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 74.3 kDa. It migrates as an approximately 85 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TAOK3 / JIK / MAP3K18 taok3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TAOK3 / JIK / MAP3K18, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
