NCBI Description

subunit which can homodimerize or heterodimerize with Inhbb to regulate FSH secretion [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

INHBA: Inhibins and activins inhibit and activate, respectively, the secretion of follitropin by the pituitary gland. Inhibins/activins are involved in regulating a number of diverse functions such as hypothalamic and pituitary hormone secretion, gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development and maturation, erythroid differentiation, insulin secretion, nerve cell survival, embryonic axial development or bone growth, depending on their subunit composition. Inhibins appear to oppose the functions of activins. Belongs to the TGF-beta family.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted

Cellular Component: extracellular region; extracellular space; perinuclear region of cytoplasm

Molecular Function: cytokine activity; growth factor activity; hormone activity; identical protein binding; peptide hormone binding; protein heterodimerization activity; receptor binding; transforming growth factor beta receptor binding

Biological Process: activin receptor signaling pathway; cell cycle arrest; cell development; G1/S transition of mitotic cell cycle; growth; hair follicle development; hemoglobin biosynthetic process; hemopoietic progenitor cell differentiation; male gonad development; mesoderm formation; mesodermal cell differentiation; negative regulation of cell cycle; negative regulation of cell growth; negative regulation of cell proliferation; odontogenesis; ovarian follicle development; palate development; positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process; positive regulation of erythrocyte differentiation; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; progesterone secretion; regulation of apoptosis; regulation of follicle-stimulating hormone secretion; regulation of MAPKKK cascade; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; response to drug; striatal medium spiny neuron differentiation

Product Notes

The Inhba inhba (Catalog #AAA7600550) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Inhibin beta A Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Inhibin beta A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Inhba inhba for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Inhibin beta A, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
