Related Product Information for anti-IL1A antibody
IL-1alpha is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced by activated monocytes, lymphocytes and epithelial cells (1). IL-1alpha is synthesized as an active precursor protein that appears to be cleaved by cytosolic proteases into its mature form (1, 2). Often, precursor and mature forms of IL-1alpha are primarily retained intracellularly rather than constitutively secreted. (1, 2). Signaling by IL-1alpha involves IL-1alpha binding to an IL-1 accessory protein (IL-1-AcP) and then the complex binds to IL-1RI (1, 2). Signaling is through activation of MAP kinase and NFkappaB pathways (1, 2). IL-1alpha also binds to an IL-RII that lacks an intracellular signaling domain and thereby serves as a high affinity decoy receptor. Inhibition of IL-1alpha activity is through IL-1R antagonist (IL-1Ra) that binds IL-1R1 but does not signal. IL-1alpha has been shown to be a key mediator of virus-induced inflammatory responses in mice (3).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This cytokine is a pleiotropic cytokine involved in various immune responses, inflammatory processes, and hematopoiesis. This cytokine is produced by monocytes and macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed and released in response to cell injury, and thus induces apoptosis. This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. It has been suggested that the polymorphism of these genes is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and Alzheimer's disease. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

IL1A: Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. Belongs to the IL-1 family.

Product Notes

The IL1A il1a (Catalog #AAA2519606) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The IL1A Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IL1A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL1A il1a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL1A, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
