NCBI Description

involved in repeated binding and release of substrate [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

HSPA2: In cooperation with other chaperones, Hsp70s stabilize preexistent proteins against aggregation and mediate the folding of newly translated polypeptides in the cytosol as well as within organelles. These chaperones participate in all these processes through their ability to recognize nonnative conformations of other proteins. They bind extended peptide segments with a net hydrophobic character exposed by polypeptides during translation and membrane translocation, or following stress-induced damage. Interacts with ZNF541. Component of the CatSper complex. Belongs to the heat shock protein 70 family.

Protein type: Chaperone; Heat shock protein

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q24

Cellular Component: cell surface; cytosol; male germ cell nucleus; membrane; mitochondrion; myelin sheath; nucleus; synaptonemal complex

Molecular Function: ATP binding; enzyme binding; glycolipid binding; protein binding; unfolded protein binding

Biological Process: male meiosis I; male meiotic nuclear division; multicellular organism development; positive regulation of ATPase activity; positive regulation of cyclin-dependent protein serine/threonine kinase activity involved in G2/M transition of mitotic cell cycle; positive regulation of protein phosphorylation; protein refolding; response to cold; response to heat; spermatid development; spermatogenesis

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Heat Shock 70kDa Protein 2 (HSPA2), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
