Related Product Information for anti-GLS1 antibody
Catalyzes the first reaction in the primary pathway for the renal catabolism of glutamine. Plays a role in maintaining acid-base homeostasis. Regulates the levels of the neurotransmitter glutamate in the brain. Isoform 2 lacks catalytic activity. CautionIsoform 3 is predicted to be expressed at very low levels due to a premature stop codon in the mRNA, leading to nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (PubMed: 14759258), but has been shown to be well expressed (PubMed: 17940881 and PubMed: 11015561) and the encoded protein is detected in mitochondria (PubMed: 22228304).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the K-type mitochondrial glutaminase. The encoded protein is an phosphate-activated amidohydrolase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of glutamine to glutamate and ammonia. This protein is primarily expressed in the brain and kidney plays an essential role in generating energy for metabolism, synthesizing the brain neurotransmitter glutamate and maintaining acid-base balance in the kidney. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]

Uniprot Description

glutaminase: Catalyzes the first reaction in the primary pathway for the renal catabolism of glutamine. Plays a role in maintaining acid-base homeostasis. Regulates the levels of the neurotransmitter glutamate in the brain. Isoform 2 lacks catalytic activity. Belongs to the glutaminase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Amino Acid Metabolism - arginine and proline; Hydrolase; Mitochondrial; Amino Acid Metabolism - alanine, aspartate and glutamate; Other Amino Acids Metabolism - D-Glutamine and D-glutamate; Energy Metabolism - nitrogen; EC 3.5.1.2

Product Notes

The GLS1 gls (Catalog #AAA8575833) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Glutaminase-1/GLS1 Rabbit pAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Glutaminase-1/GLS1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). WB: 1:2000 IHC: 1:50 ICC/IF: 1:50 FC: 1:50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GLS1 gls for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glutaminase-1/GLS1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
