Biological Significance
Synucleins are small, soluble proteins expressed primarily in neural tissue and in certain tumors. The family includes three known proteins: alpha-synuclein, beta-synuclein, and gamma-synuclein. All synucleins have in common a highly conserved alpha-helical lipid-binding motif with similarity to the class-A2 lipid-binding domains of the exchangeable apolipoproteins. Although they are homologous, each synuclein is encoded by a different gene on chromosomes 4q21.3-q22. gamma-Synuclein (also called BCSG-1) is abnormally expressed in a high percentage of tumor tissues of diversified cancer types, including liver, esophagus, colon, gastric, lung, prostate, cervical, and breast cancer.
Cross-Reactivity
To be determined by end-user.
Immunogen
gamma Synuclein antibody was raised in Rabbit using recombinant human gamma-Synuclein (1-127aa) as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the synuclein family of proteins which are believed to be involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. Mutations in this gene have also been associated with breast tumor development. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

SNCG: a member of the synuclein family of proteins which are believed to be involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. May be involved in modulating axonal architecture during development and in the adult. Plays a role in neurofilament network integrity. High levels have been identified in advanced breast carcinomas.

Product Notes

The SNCG sncg (Catalog #AAA835039) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The gamma Synuclein antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's gamma Synuclein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:2,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SNCG sncg for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "gamma Synuclein, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
