NCBI Description

The intracellular fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs) belong to a multigene family with nearly twenty identified members. FABPs are divided into at least three distinct types, namely the hepatic-, intestinal- and cardiac-type. They form 14-15 kDa proteins and are thought to participate in the uptake, intracellular metabolism and/or transport of long-chain fatty acids. They may also be responsible in the modulation of cell growth and proliferation. Intestinal fatty acid-binding protein 2 gene contains four exons and is an abundant cytosolic protein in small intestine epithelial cells. This gene has a polymorphism at codon 54 that identified an alanine-encoding allele and a threonine-encoding allele. Thr-54 protein is associated with increased fat oxidation and insulin resistance. Uniprot Description

FABP2: FABP are thought to play a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters. FABP2 is probably involved in triglyceride-rich lipoprotein synthesis. Binds saturated long-chain fatty acids with a high affinity, but binds with a lower affinity to unsaturated long- chain fatty acids. FABP2 may also help maintain energy homeostasis by functioning as a lipid sensor. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family.

Product Notes

The FABP2 fabp2 (Catalog #AAA612931) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Fatty Acid Binding Protein, Intestinal (FABP) reacts with Human, Mouse, Porcine, Rat, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Fatty Acid Binding Protein, Intestinal can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in staining cells containing I-FABP in cells cultured on cover slip (Immunohistochemistry), Western Blot and ELISA. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: 1:10 Western Blot: 1:10. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FABP2 fabp2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fatty Acid Binding Protein, Intestinal, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
