NCBI Description

binds estrogen and mediates transcriptional activation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

ER-beta: a nuclear hormone receptor and transcription factor. Binds and activated by estrogen. Regulates gene expression and affects cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues. Binds estrogens with an affinity similar to that of ER-alpha, and activates expression of reporter genes containing estrogen response elements (ERE) in an estrogen-dependent manner. Eight alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described. Isoform beta-cx lacks ligand binding ability and has no or only very low ERE binding activity resulting in the loss of ligand-dependent transactivation ability.

Product Notes

The Esr2 esr2 (Catalog #AAA534283) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Estrogen Receptor beta antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Non-Human Primate, Rat, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Estrogen Receptor beta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Gel Shift, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). Gel Shift: 1-5 ul ICC: 2-4 ug/ml IF: 0.5 ug/ml IHC-F: 1-2 ug/ml IHC-P: 1-2 ug/ml WB: 1-2 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Esr2 esr2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Estrogen Receptor beta, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
