The target protein prn is agglutinogen that binds to eukaryotic cells, a process mediated by the R-G-D sequence. It may have a role in bacterial adhesion, and thus play a role in virulence. This protein may contribute to the disease state of whooping cough. It is synthesized only in the presence of low Mg 2+ concentration. This Rabbit anti-Bordetella pertussis (strain Tohama I / ATCC BAA-589 / NCTC13251) prn Polyclonal antibody was tested in the ELISA. The non-conjugated IgG got purified by protein G and reached up to 95% in purity. It only reacts with the prn proteins of Bordetella pertussis-origin and may be used to detect the endogenous levels of prn protein.
