Goat BIM Polyclonal Antibody | anti-BIM antibody

GOAT ANTI HUMAN BIM (C-TERMINAL)

Gene Names
BCL2L11; BAM; BIM; BOD
Applications
ELISA, Western Blot
Synonyms
BIM; Polyclonal Antibody; GOAT ANTI HUMAN BIM (C-TERMINAL); anti-BIM antibody
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Goat
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item specifically recognises an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of the AD, ACD and ABCD isoforms of human BIM, otherwise known as Bcl-2 interacting mediator of cell death.

BIM is an apoptotic activator protein and member of the Bcl-2 family, which forms heterodimers with several anti-apoptotic proteins including BCL2, BHRF1, and MCL1, but not with the pro-apoptotic proteins BAD, BAX or BAK. BIM can be induced by nerve growth factor (NGF) and also by forkhead transcription factor FKHR-L1, implicating BIM in both neuronal and lymphocyte apoptosis.

ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes
Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 23kDa in K562 cell lysates.
ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 1/16000
Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.5; Maximum Dilution: 2.0ug/ml
Perservative Stabilisers
0.02% Sodium Azide (NaN3)
0.5% Bovine Serum Albumin
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide sequence C-FNAYYARRLEK from the C-Terminal region of BIM (NP_619528; NP_996886; NP_619529).
Buffer Solution
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human BIM (CT) was raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the BCL-2 protein family. BCL-2 family members form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators that are involved in a wide variety of cellular activities. The protein encoded by this gene contains a Bcl-2 homology domain 3 (BH3). It has been shown to interact with other members of the BCL-2 protein family and to act as an apoptotic activator. The expression of this gene can be induced by nerve growth factor (NGF), as well as by the forkhead transcription factor FKHR-L1, which suggests a role of this gene in neuronal and lymphocyte apoptosis. Transgenic studies of the mouse counterpart suggested that this gene functions as an essential initiator of apoptosis in thymocyte-negative selection. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2013]

Uniprot Description

BIM: a pro-apoptotic member of the BCL-2 protein family. Interacts with other members of the BCL-2 protein family, including BCL2, BCL2L1/BCL-X(L), and MCL1, and act as an apoptotic activator. Its expression can be induced by nerve growth factor (NGF), as well as by the forkhead transcription factor FKHR-L1, which suggests a role in neuronal and lymphocyte apoptosis. Transgenic studies in the mouse suggested that this protein functions as an essential initiator of the apoptosis in thymocyte-negative selection. Nineteen alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been reported.

Product Notes

The BIM bcl2l11 (Catalog #AAA224109) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's BIM can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 23kDa in K562 cell lysates. ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 1/16000 Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.5; Maximum Dilution: 2.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BIM bcl2l11 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BIM, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
