Related Product Information for anti-MMP-3 antibody
Description: The antibody is a Rabbit antibody to the Matrix Metalloproteinase Stromelysin-1, made with a synthetic peptide based on the aminoterminal end of the active form of the Human sequence. The antibody binds to Stromelysin-1 and Stromelysin-2, but does not cross react with Stromelysin-3, nor to the other MMP family members (MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-9, etc.). RP4S1 is a good cross control for our other peptide antibodies to Stromelysin, RP2S1 and RP3S1. The antibody has been peptide-affinity purified, concentrated to 1 mg/ml, with the addition of sodium azide as preservative and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant.

Relevance: Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. MMP3 is an enzyme which degrades fibronectin, laminin, collagens III, IV, IX, and X, and cartilage proteoglycans. The enzyme is thought to be involved in wound repair, progression of atherosclerosis, and tumor initiation. MMP3 is reported to be implicated in rheumatoid arthritis and some forms of cancer.

Product Notes

The MMP-3 (Catalog #AAA4157292) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-b-Stromelysin-1 (MMP-3) Aminoterminal End of Active Enzyme Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's b-Stromelysin-1 (MMP-3) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MMP-3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "b-Stromelysin-1 (MMP-3), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
